Help Center - Frequently Asked Questions
Blind Date
  1. To play the game, first use the "Find a Date" tab to fill up the game board with 4 people you think could be potential matches. Next, go to the "Blind Date Games" tab and start answering the questions. Answer 2 out of 3 questions correctly for any Date to make a match!

Helpful hint: To save time, you can fill up multiple game boards on the "Find a Date" tab before going to the "Blind Date Games" tab to play the game.
  2. myYearbook employs one of the most sophisticated compatibility algorithms in the world to compare you to everyone else based on your answers to thousands of questions.

When we calculate a compatibility percentage between you and another member, we look at the questions you have in common and take into account your answers, the answers you each want your perfect match to give, and the importance level you each assign to the questions. This gives us two numbers: how well you match what the other person is looking for, and how well he or she matches what you are looking for. We then use our secret formula to combine those two numbers into the overall compatibility percentage between the two of you.

Note that the more questions you have in common, the higher your compatibility score can be. To improve your compatibility scores across the board, answer more questions!
  3. When playing a Blind Date Game, you make a Match when you answer 2 out of 3 questions in the way your date wants their perfect match to answer them. Anyone you Match will appear in the My Dates tab under "People I Matched."

Other members can also Blind Date you and make a Match with you in their Blind Date Game. In that case, we'll notify you via Action Items of the new Match, and the member who matched you will appear in the My Dates tab under "People Who Matched Me."

If you each Match the other, you'll appear in "Double Matches"!
  4. To improve your compatibility percentage with a particular member, click the "Improve" link near the compatibility score (it's generally either underneath the score or next to it). This will allow you to answer questions that person has answered and you haven't -- give the answers they want their perfect match to give, and your compatibility percentage will go up!

In general, the more questions you answer, the more questions you'll have in common with everyone else, and the higher your compatibility scores will be.
  5. Things in Common represent the number of questions where you and the other person each gave the "correct" answer to match one another. That is, you must have given an answer they want their perfect match to give, and they must have given an answer you want your perfect match to give. If only one of you has given the other's preferred answer, your compatibility percentage may go up, but you will not have a new Thing in Common.
  6. Clicking "Blind Date" on someone in the "Find a Date" tab will add them to the Blind Date game board. Once you've selected 4 people to Blind Date, you will be able to play a Blind Date Game.
  7. The "My Dates" tab displays people you have matched while playing the Blind Date Game, people who have matched you, and Double Matches -- people you have matched who have also matched you. Matching in the Blind Date Game means answering 2 out of 3 compatibility questions correctly for a particular member.
  8. You make a "Double Match" when you match someone in the Blind Date Game by answering 2 out of 3 questions correctly, and they match you back in their Blind Date Game.
  9. Every night, our robots analyze every profile to find you the the most compatible new people on myYearbook. We then pre-fill a Blind Date Game for you with six people we think are compatible. These are your Daily Dates. You will get one Daily Dates game per day, and they will expire soon if you don't play them.

By default, we'll notify you by email of your Daily Dates. You can opt out of receiving these emails by going to Email Notification Settings and unchecking the box next to "Notify me of Daily Dates."
  10. The game board was saved to the "Blind Date Game" tab, where it will be stored until you choose to play the game. Once you clicked Blind Date on a fifth person, you started filling up your second game board!
  11. A Peek lets you see the correct answer for one question in a Blind Date Game, then re-answer all three questions for a second chance at making a match. Peeks cost Lunch Money, and you can only use 5 Peeks per day.
  12. To match someone in the Blind Date Game, you must answer the question in the way they wanted their perfect match to answer, but it doesn't matter whether they answered the question in the way you want your perfect match to answer it. Things in Common, on the other hand, requires each of you to give an answer preferred by the other.

If you make a match but have 0 (or 1) Things in Common, it means that you answered the questions the way they preferred, but they did not give the answers you prefer.
  13. Potential Dates are people who clicked to Blind Date you. Your potential dates will show up first when you go to the "Find A Date" tab. If you also choose to Blind Date them, you could make a Double Match!
  14. Second Chance takes you back to view the questions you answered for a particular date and gives you the option to either "Do Over" or "Peek" to get a second chance at making a match. You can only "Do Over" and "Peek" a limited number of times each day, so use them carefully!
  15. A Do Over lets you re-answer all three questions for a particular date in a Blind Date game, so you have another chance at making a match. A Do Over costs Lunch Money, and you can only use 5 Do Overs per day.
  16. Although some basic information is displayed (age, gender, location), in order to keep Blind Date truly "blind," we hide the names and profile until you play the game and make a match based on compatibility questions.
  17. First, go to the "My Questions" tab and click "Review Your Answers." Now you'll see all the questions you've answered so far. To change any answer, just click the blue "Re-Answer" button. You can re-answer each question once every 48 hours.
  18. To submit a question you must be a VIP Club member. If you are a VIP, go to the "My Questions" tab, click "Submit a Question," and fill in the required fields. Your question must have between 2 and 4 answer choices, and not all questions will be approved.
